Ok phone, not so good vendor September 3, 2010 T. Lalan (CA) I brought this phone without looking at the reviews. Read them when the sound quality was not good and when I realised it was not providing me any more flexibility that using skype straight off my computer with a speaker and a mic. I mean why would I not buy a headset? Even if it were wired, it frees up my hands. I am anyways tied to the comp here. This dealer is not good at returns.
Do Not Buy This Product August 22, 2010 IP Telephony Consultant 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received the product promptly from the supplier. The product looks satisfactory as a simple telephone. Buttons are rather cheap and the tactile feedback is like pressing on sponges. The instruction manual was sketchy, at best. Far below what major vendors supply with products. The software disk contained drivers but, did not include a self-install option. Self install executables are the bare bones minimum for a product like this. I verified my system OS (XP) matched the product requirements (2000 or XP) and tried using the product with Skype. Dialing a test cellphone number did actually work, connect and you could hear the call. However, you could not hear the telephone ringing the target phone. It was dead quiet. This is not how any modern phone should work. You should see and hear telephone connection progress including outbound ringing, connection tone and disconnect tone. Finally, I tested the product with the US Airways 800 number to see how well the telephone would navigate an telephone automated response system such as banking systems or stores. The system would not connect with the US Airways 800 number or several others. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!....IT DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED!!! Do not waste 2 hours of your time trying to make this product work like a business or home phone. It will not provide the functionality you need such as dialing tollfree numbers and voice response units at banks. Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with VoIP vendors, telephone carriers or suppliers or any other VoIP vendor. I have no affiliation with Amazon. This is not a paid review. My responses are solely my own opinion.
Great device works with Skype--I have a solution if the sound does not work. August 10, 2010 Blooper 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had major problems with the audio of this device. But I found a solution, thank God for blogs! On humble advice I would forward this message to all of your subsidiaries any retail store that sells USB audio devices! Anywhere in the world. Just today I got the new USB phone audio interface. It of course uses the Windows audio drivers. A nightmare occured. When I plugged in the device Windows XP had the usual "detect USB device" come up. But to my horror it wound up saying "A hardware problem occured your hardware may not operate properly" something of that sort. I spent over 4 hours trying to figure this whole thing out and I read the manual it came with. Tried all sorts of things oh brother! It still would not install. By the way this happened with a previous USB audio device, not made by this company, that did the exact same thing on my computer. But to my luck I found out what the problem was! Thank God for the website that had this on a blog!: In the c:\windows\inf folder there must exist two files: wdma_usb.inf wdma_usb.PNF It is really the .inf file that is important. Some software seems to knock these out by renaming them to: wdma_usbinf.bak wdma_usbpnf.bak I simply found the files, opened them and renamed them to the proper names. And lo and behold when I restarted my computer the USB phone worked! Its easy to rename the files you just open wdma_usbinf.bak wdma_usbpnf.bak and then save them as wdma_usb.inf wdma_usb.PNF. Its that simple!! Anyone who works customer service for the company that makes this phone should know this. Like I said it happend with a previous USB audio device that I had and I would up selling it at eBay cause I was so frustrated. I'm happy with the USB phone. My guitar USB did the same thing and it cost me $100 luckily I found the great guy that posted this at a blog.
Best option for VOIP August 2, 2010 RReddy I am very happy with this product as it works gr8 with all the VOIP services. I installation was very quick and all set to make your free calls. Would recommend this product and seller to all.
Does exactly what it's supposed to do July 30, 2010 X. LI This little USB phone does exactly what it's supposed to do and I did not even need to install any drivers, Windows XP's built-in USB sound device driver works. The sound quality is good enough for online phone talkings.
